This initial phase of work is primarily early civil site work; building out the early civil site design will be spread out over the first two phases of work. The Anchorage Assembly approved Work Package 1 in June 2020. The work began in July 2020 and includes:
The second phase of work was approved by the Anchorage Assembly in August 2020. This "Work Package 2" funds the completion of the early earthwork started in Work Package 1 and allows construction to begin on the foundations and tunnel for the transfer station (aka tipping) building, the largest facility to be constructed on the campus at 87,000 square feet. Phase 2 also includes purchase and fabrication of the tipping building steel framing. The material quantities installed during this phase include:
Work Package 3 will be the balance of work to fully construct the new Central Transfer Station.
