Groundbreaking for the new CTS facility took place on July 9, 2020, launching the project into the next phase of work. The schedule above shows the estimated timeline for construction. You can find documentation of the work as it progresses on the Links page of this website.
On August 21, 2019 Solid Waste Services (SWS) hosted the first community meeting at their administrative building. This meeting served two purposes: 1) to kick-off the project with an overview of what it is, why it's being done, and over what period of time; and 2) to discuss the variance request being submitted to the Municipality and heard by the Urban Design Commission in November. The variance was approved by the Urban Design Commission on at their meeting on November 13. The next step in moving the project forward is approval for a conditional use permit and platting change; these actions will take place in early 2020.
There will be regular opportunities to hear from the project team and offer your feedback at community meetings through winter and spring 2020. Stay tuned to the Public Involvement page of this website for current information about meetings and other ways to weigh in. You can also email us any time to share your input: info@NewSWSCentralTransferStation.com.
